General chemistry as the name suggests is used in all other branches of chemistry. It deals with the structure, properties and chemical reactions of the elements and the compounds formed by these elements. It also deals with bonding and molecular structures. General chemistry explains the various chemical reactions in terms of electron transfer processes. The study of general chemistry helps the students to understand the properties of elements and how these elements react in the chemical reactions, the bonding and molecular structures of compounds which helps to understand the various biological processes like enzyme-catalysed reactions, DNA replication, rusting of iron, photosynthesis and another natural phenomenon as redox reactions.
